Orpheus Music School, originated in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992, services a network of areas in the greater Boston and Cincinnati locales. The school was founded on the premise that music education is fundamental to the early childhood educational experience. The professors here at Orpheus Music have been trained in the Eastern European Music Methodology. They advocate the instrumental or vocal music studies not only for the student’s personal expression and performance success, but also as a vehicle for their creative and cognitive development.

In addition of stressing the importance of classical training, (reading music, counting, music theory, stylistic interpretation); the school utilizes American popular music, follows European Methodology but encompasses a curriculum of songs familiar to American children. Orpheus Music places a great importance on the basic learning of reading notes, timing, and performance with music that is age appropriate.

Each program is tailored to the individual needs of every student. Our school meets the requirements for even the most serious of music students and teaches to the standards for national and international competition. We can assist in rounding out the early education experience with valuable lessons in music, performance and history, as well as cater to the adult learner who may want to refresh an earlier educational experience or start something new.

Orpheus Music values the experience of live performances and believes that this allows the student to grow in diversity. It is often demonstrated that our biannual recitals allows the most reticent students to shine. It is remarkable to see how the students improve year-to-year, even season-to-season. One moment they are performing “Mary had a little Lamb” another Sonatina in C Major by Beethoven and onto Debussy’s Clair de Lune. Children learn to accompany each other and enjoy the camaraderie of group performance. Afterwards, a fun celebration is enjoyed. Parents have remarked that these recitals have given their children self-confidence and leadership skills.
